The two cells on this slide are a segmented neutrophil and a promyelocyte. The latter contains many azurophilic granules. The N:C ratio is about 3:1. Compare the color of the cytoplasm with that of the segmented cell. Notice, too, how much darker the lobes of the segmented neutrophil stain than do those of the promyelocyte. The dark stain indicates heavy chromatin.
