Note the red rods in the cytoplasm of the large binucleated plasma cell to the left of center. The rods represent crystals of protein. They appear similar to Auer rods in granulocytes, but they are peroxidase-negative. The presence of crystals of any kind is abnormal in plasma cells and suggests malignancy.
