This is the bone marrow preparation of another patient with EL. Notice the young white cells in this field and the lack of mature cells. This is a typical finding made with EL. If the patient survives long enough, usually the NRBCs will disappear from the bone marrow, and only white cell blasts will remain. EL is probably just one phase of an acute leukemia, since it usually progresses to FAB categories M1, M2, or M4.
