The NRBCs shown here are in the E5 stage of maturation. The one on the left is an orthochromatic megaloblast and the two on the right are orthochromatic normoblasts. Each picture also shows one lymphocyte. The megaloblastic cell has more abundant cytoplasm than the two cells on the right, accounting for its larger size. Notice too, the difference in the staining of the nuclei.
