Slide 24
This is the bone marrow of another patient with refractory megaloblastic anemia. There is a definite shift to younger forms, with a true maturation arrest of the NRBCs. In this field there are: one E1, one E2, one E3, two E4, and one E5 cells. The granulocytes in the marrow were morphologically normal as is the one seg in this field. This patient, too, failed to respond to treatment for megaloblastic anemia.
