M70 670A PRINCIPLES of PHARMACOLOGY

This introductory course focuses on mechanisms of drug action (pharmacodynamics), drug distribution and metabolism (pharmacokinetics), autonomic nervous system pharmacology, analgesics and anesthetics, anti-inflammatory therapies, toxicology, and clinical trials of drugs. Our emphasis on basic principles of pharmacology creates a foundation for understanding the rational treatment of diseases covered in other courses during the second year of the medical curriculum. Students who have not completed the first year of the medical school curriculum must have permission from the course master to enroll.
